Brian Sanchez (4-1) relieved an ineffective Brad Hand to toss 1 1/3 scoreless innings as the Marlins won their fifth in a row.

Ryan Zimmerman collected four hits for the second straight game and Jayson Werth had a pair of RBI singles for Washington, which fell for the 12th time in 16 contests.

John Lannan (7-7) dropped to 2-4 in his career against the Marlins after permitting four runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
