Nationals 2, Marlins 0: Rick Ankiel went 3-for-3 with a solo home run as host Washington opened a three-game series against Miami with a victory.

The Nationals won for the ninth time in the last 11 games and picked up their fourth victory in their past five meetings with the Marlins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Ankiel was a one-man wrecking crew, opening the scoring with a towering solo shot to center field in the bottom of the third.

He singled in the fifth and added his third hit of the game in the eighth, stretching a drive to right into a double by sliding under the tag of Jose Reyes. Ankiel scored an insurance run in the eighth on Ian Desmond’s infield single.

Ross Detwiler (2-0) might have earned himself a permanent spot in the rotation, giving up just three hits and striking out seven over six innings. The Nationals bullpen allowed one hit in three innings of relief, with Henry Rodriguez earning his fourth save.

Hanley Ramirez, who entered Friday hitting .550 (11-for-20) with three home runs and nine RBIs in the previous five games, was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Carlos Zambrano (0-1) retired every member of the Nationals lineup, besides Ankiel, giving up only two hits and striking out six through seven innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington improved to 7-2 at Nationals Park. … Marlins 2B Omar Infante (groin) missed his third straight game. … Miami is just 2-5 on the road. ...This was the first time the Nationals shutout the Marlins at Nationals Park.
