Phillies 3, Marlins 1: Kyle Kendrick threw seven innings of two-hit ball and Domonic Brown broke up a pitchers' duel with a two-run homer as Philadelphia continued its climb up the National League wild card standings.

The Phillies have won five straight and nine of 11 to pull within five games of St. Louis for the second wild-card spot.

The Marlins had scored 21 runs in their previous three games, but never got anything going against Kendrick (9-10), who struck out eight, walked three and allowed one run on Donovan Solano's sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc (2-4) matched zeroes with Kendrick until the fifth, when Brown turned on a 3-1 fastball for a two-run blast down the right-field line. The Phillies added a third run when LeBlanc uncorked a wild pitch later in the inning.

LeBlanc was charged with three runs on four hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked one.

Antonio Bastardo struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his first save. Regular closer Jonathan Papelbon was unavailable after pitching in both games of a doubleheader Sunday.
