Cubs 3, Diamondbacks 1: Matt Garza pitched seven scoreless innings and Darwin Barney hit a two-run homer as Chicago finished off a three-game sweep at home.

Garza (5-7) scattered five hits and a walk, striking out seven. He retired the last eight hitters he faced, and the Diamondbacks did not advance a runner past second base until Aaron Hill connected for a solo home run against reliever Shawn Camp with two outs in the eighth inning.

Carlos Marmol picked up his 10th save, yielding a walk and single before getting the final two outs of a scoreless ninth after James Russell notched the first out..

Barney provided what would prove to be the winning runs when he sent a 1-2 pitch from Trevor Cahill (7-8) over the left-field wall in the second inning. Anthony Rizzo had put the Cubs on the board with an RBI single in the opening frame.

Cahill went 5 1/3 innings in defeat, giving up three runs on just four hits. He didn’t get much help from an Arizona lineup that produced just three runs during the three-game series.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cahill was 2-for-2 at the plate after going just 2-for-35 over his first 17 games of the season. ... The Cubs avenged a three-game sweep on the road at Arizona last month. ... Chicago has won four straight for just the second time this season. Both streaks have come in the last three weeks.
