Reds 7, Rockies 5: Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer and three other Cincinnati players went deep in the victory over visiting Colorado.

The Rockies hit five solo homers as the teams combined to set a Great American Ball Park single-game record with nine homers.

Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier all hit solo shots for the Reds, who have won eight of nine to move a season-high seven games above .500. Carlos Gonzalez homered twice for Colorado, which also received solo homers from Troy Tulowitzki, Michael Cuddyer and Dexter Fowler.

Cincinnati’s Mat Latos (4-2) won his fourth straight decision and the five Colorado homers were the only hits he allowed in 7 1/3 innings. Aroldis Chapman got the final five outs for his third save.

The Reds hit homers in each of the first four innings. Votto hit a solo shot in the first and Bruce went deep in the second. Phillips’ three-run blast in the third off Jamie Moyer (2-5) gave the Reds a 5-1 lead. Frazier’s fourth-inning homer gave Cincinnati a 6-2 edge.

Gonzalez hit homers in the fourth and sixth innings. Tulowitzki went deep in the second, Cuddyer homered to center in the fifth and Fowler finished Latos’ afternoon with a one-out homer to right in the eighth.

Jose Arredondo allowed two runners to reach in the eighth before Chapman entered, striking out Gonzalez and retiring Tulowitzki on a fly to center. Chapman walked a batter in the ninth but concluded the contest by getting Jordan Pacheco to bounce into a double play.

Moyer allowed seven runs and seven hits – and all four Cincinnati homers – in five innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Reds hit 17 homers and allowed 12 during the just-concluded seven-game homestand … Gonzalez has three two-homer games this season … Bruce has 11 homers, but Sunday’s blast was his first since May 8 … Pacheco went hitless in four at-bats to end a 11-game hitting streak.
