Dodgers 3, Astros 1: Matt Kemp blasted his eighth home run and Ted Lilly threw six strong innings as the visiting Dodgers recorded their fifth straight win over the Astros.

Kemp opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the first inning off J.A. Happ (1-1), who gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings.

Lilly (2-0) worked around six walks and allowed one run on four hits, and Javy Guerra tossed a perfect ninth inning for his seventh save.

One game after exploding for 11 runs, the Astros managed just five hits and stranded nine runners against the Dodgers. Houston scored its lone run on Chris Snyder’s RBI single in the fourth inning.

With eight homers in the Dodgers’ first 14 games, Kemp is tied with Wally Moon (1961) for the fastest start in franchise history. Kemp is batting .481 with 20 RBIs after going 3-for-3 Friday.

Kemp has six homers and 11 RBIs during his current nine-game hitting streak, and all eight of his home runs have been opposite-field shots.
