Yankees 5, Blue Jays 0: Hiroki Kuroda threw eight innings of two-hit ball as host New York cruised past Toronto.

Kuroda (6-2) had his strongest outing of the season, not allowing a runner past first base after the first inning while lowering his ERA to 1.99. Kuroda walked one and struck out five to outduel Toronto counterpart Mark Buehrle for the third time in 2013.

Buehrle (1-3) continued to struggle against New York, allowing five runs and six hits over six innings as Toronto saw its season-high four-game winning streak halted. The veteran left-hander fell to 1-10 lifetime versus the Yankees.

The Yankees scored in the first on a Robinson Cano groundout that brought home Brett Gardner, who led off with a triple. New York doubled its advantage in the fifth after David Adams and Austin Romine singled, Gardner walked and Jayson Nix lofted a sacrifice fly to left-center field.

The Yankees broke it open in the seventh, stringing together three straight hits - including a Romine RBI double to the left-field wall - to chase Buehrle. Aaron Loup relieved him and promptly allowed a Gardner run-scoring single and Nix's second sacrifice fly of the night.
