Athletics 9, Giants 6: Pinch hitter Nate Freiman capped a four-run fifth inning with a two-run single and visiting Oakland took advantage of three San Francisco errors for its fifth straight win.

The Athletics took an early lead when Yoenis Cespedes tripled in a run off Tim Lincecum (3-5) and scored on a Marco Scutaro error in the first. Lincecum allowed six runs (five earned) over 4 1/3 innings for the Giants, who dropped to 0-5 in interleague play and have lost five of seven overall.

Oakland starter Tommy Milone (5-5) labored through five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits. Grant Balfour worked around a leadoff single in the ninth for his 12th save to secure the Athletics’ 11th win in their last 12 games.

Hunter Pence and Brett Pill each hit solo homers for the Giants, who trailed 6-1 after Javier Lopez replaced Lincecum with one out in the fifth and allowed Freiman’s two-run single. Jed Lowrie sparked the rally with an RBI single after Coco Crisp singled to begin the inning.

The Giants cut the deficit to 7-6 in the eighth when Scutaro and Pablo Sandoval each drove in a run against Sean Doolittle, snapping the left-hander’s 13-game scoreless streak. The Athletics answered with two runs in the ninth after Andres Torres misplayed Josh Donaldson’s one-out RBI single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Giants optioned LHP Mike Kickham to Triple-A Fresno and recalled reliever Ramon Ramirez. Kickham allowed four runs over 2 1/3 innings in his major-league debut on Tuesday. ... Athletics bench coach Chip Hale was ejected for the first time in his career after arguing a fan interference call in the sixth inning. .... Giants CF Angel Pagan missed his fourth straight game with a strained right hamstring and remains listed as day-to-day.
