Rangers 12, Mariners 4: Leonys Martin homered and had four RBIs and Adrian Beltre and Mitch Moreland also went deep as visiting Texas roughed up Seattle ace Felix Hernandez to sweep the three-game series.

Beltre and Elvis Andrus each had three hits and two RBIs and the Rangers had 17 hits overall while winning for the seventh time in nine games. Hernandez (12-8) was battered for nine runs (eight earned) and 11 hits in three-plus innings to drop to 0-4 with a 7.57 ERA in five 2013 starts against Texas.

The Rangers remained 2 1/2 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the American League West. Seattle has lost six consecutive contests since manager Eric Wedge returned from a stroke.

Martin hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Geovany Soto added a two-run single in the third before the first four Rangers reached in the fourth to mercifully end Hernandez’s outing. Martin, Andrus and Ian Kinsler had run-scoring hits off Hernandez in the frame before Beltre greeted reliever Brandon Maurer with a two-run homer to make it 10-0.

Martin Perez (8-3) allowed two runs – on homers to Dustin Ackley and Kyle Seager – and five hits in six innings. Perez has won five consecutive starts and Hernandez has lost four of his last five.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle has been outscored 38-12 since Wedge returned to the dugout. … Andrus is 12-for-29 during a six-game hitting streak. … Seager has hit six of his 21 homers against Texas.
