Nationals 5, Marlins 4 (2nd game): Wilson Ramos plated pinch runner Eury Perez with the game-winning run in the ninth inning as host Washington kept its flickering postseason aspirations alive by salvaging a split of a doubleheader.

Jayson Werth ripped a double against Sam Dyson (0-2) to lead off the ninth inning. Perez replaced Werth on the bases, advanced to third on a double steal before coming home after Ramos' grounder handcuffed third baseman Chris Coghlan.

Denard Span gave the Nationals a 4-3 lead with a two-run single in the sixth inning. Span finished with three RBIs and Ryan Zimmerman also had a run-scoring single for the Nationals, who reside five games behind Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in the race for the National League's second wild card with six remaining.

Justin Ruggiano homered and Giancarlo Stanton forged a 4-4 tie with an RBI double in the eighth inning. Adeiny Hechavarria added an RBI single for the Marlins, who posted a 4-2 victory in the opener after losing 12 of their previous 15 contests.

Rafael Soriano (3-3) picked up the win after retiring the side in order in the ninth inning.
