Tyler Glasnow allowed one run and six hits over five innings and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the visiting Houston Astros 3-1 on Saturday.

Glasnow, who went 0-5 with a 10.38 ERA during spring training, gave up a solo home run to Alex Bregman in the first inning before the 6-foot-8 right-hander blanked Houston over the next four.

Michael Perez had two hits, a run scored and an RBI in the No. 9 spot to lead the Tampa Bay offense.

Astros starter Collin McHugh allowed two runs and three hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. George Springer and Josh Reddick had two hits apiece for Houston.

McHugh didn't allow a hit or a ball to leave the infield through the first four innings before Yandy Diaz doubled on the first pitch of the fifth.

Diaz was still on second base with two outs when Kevin Kiermaier doubled off the wall in right to tie the game at 1-1. Perez then lined a base hit to right to drive in Kiermaier for a 2-1 lead.

The Rays tacked on an insurance run in the eighth when Perez doubled to right, Guillermo Heredia sacrificed and Tommy Pham drove in Perez with a single for a 3-1 lead.

The only Tampa Bay base runner through the first four innings was Austin Meadows, who walked to lead off the fourth, but he was stranded at third when McHugh struck out Ji-Man Choi and Brandon Lowe.

Glasnow, the first major-league pitcher to lose all five decisions in spring training since Ross Ohlendorf of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011, threw a high fastball to Bregman on a 2-2 count with two outs in the first inning and he lined it over the fence in left for a 1-0 lead.

Ryne Stanek threw two shutout innings of relief for Tampa Bay before Chaz Roe recorded the first two outs in the eighth. Adam Kolarek then got Reddick to line out to right field with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Jose Alvarado pitched the ninth for his second save in two nights.
