Patrick Bailey came close to hitting for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the host San Francisco Giants' 7-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Bailey had already recorded a single, double and home run when he went to the plate in the seventh inning.

He hit a ball to the alley in left-center field and appeared to be running hard with the intention of going for a triple to complete the cycle, but the ball bounced over the wall for a ground-rule double.

Arizona starter Zac Gallen, trying to become the first major league pitcher with four victories this season, did not pitch beyond the fifth after giving up a two-run home run to Bailey with two outs in the inning.

Gallen was close to retiring the side in order in the fifth, but Wilmer Flores singled on a 2-1 count before Bailey belted his home run that gave the Giants a 5-3 lead.

Gallen (3-1) allowed nine hits and five runs, with six strikeouts and one walk in five innings.

Arizona scored in the first inning after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. doubled with two outs.

Christian Walker followed with a single to bring Gurriel home.

San Francisco responded in the bottom of the first, with Jung Hoo Lee hitting a leadoff home run.

The Giants scored later in the inning to take a 2-1 lead on a Flores sacrifice fly following consecutive singles by LaMonte Wade Jr. and Jorge Soler.

San Francisco scored another run in the third after Wade hit a single to lead off the inning.

Wade advanced to second, then third, following two separate wild pitches by Gallen. He scored on Bailey's double that gave San Francisco a 3-1 lead.

Arizona rallied for two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game against Giants starter Kyle Harrison.

Blaze Alexander hit an RBI double with one out, and Kevin Newman scored Alexander with a single with two outs.

An RBI double by Lee and an RBI single by Michael Conforto in the eighth increased the Giants' lead to 7-3.

Five relievers who followed Harrison combined to limit the Diamondbacks to one hit over the last five innings. Harrison went four innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He walked one and fanned five.

Ryan Walker (2-2) was credited with the win.
