Lamar Odom finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds and Pau Gasol added 21 points, nine assists and eight boards as the Los Angeles Lakers dominated in the frontcourt en route to a 114-106 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

Kobe Bryant added 25 points and Ron Artest chipped in 14 for the Lakers, who improved to 2-0 in their quest for a third straight championship.

With the Suns lacking in size at the power forward spot after the free agent departure of Amar'e Stoudemire, Odom towered over his competition and had little trouble playing off Gasol. Odom shot 8-of-12 from the floor and added five assists.

Phoenix tied it 76-76 on Hedo Turkoglu’s layup with 3:40 left in the third but Gasol scored two straight buckets to spark the Lakers’ 11-3 run to end the quarter. Los Angeles pushed the lead to 95-82 on Matt Barnes’ 3-pointer early in the third.

The Suns cut it to 99-94 on Turkoglu’s 3-pointer with 5:22 left, but Odom drained a jumper and Bryant converted a pair of free throws as Los Angeles pulled away again.
