A four-point rally in the game’s final minute and seven seconds enabled host Providence to come from behind for a 58-55 victory over Yale Monday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Trailing 55-54 with 1:07 to play in the second half, a jumper by Duke Mondy put Providence ahead by one, and Marshon Brooks sank two free throws with 19 seconds to go to provide the final margin of victory for the Friars, who won their second straight contest.
After Yale called a timeout, a 3-point shot by Greg Mangano missed its target as time expired.
Guard Vincent Council finished with 18 points and five rebounds for Providence. Brooks added 15 points and 12 rebounds despite six offensive turnovers. Center Bilal Dixon also had a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.
