Billy White scored a career-high 30 points as San Diego State upset No. 12 Gonzaga 79-76 on Tuesday night in the CBE Classic at Spokane, Wash.

White made 14-of-18 field-goal attempts and grabbed nine rebounds as the Aztecs (2-0) notched one of the biggest victories in school history. White scored 11 consecutive points during one stretch of the second half.

Steven Gray scored a career-high 35 points for Gonzaga (2-1), but Bulldogs star Elias Harris was a non-factor with five points. Robert Sacre added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Gonzaga.

The Bulldogs trailed 75-67 with 3:53 left before staging a late rally that saw them pull within 77-76 on Gray’s basket with 23.6 seconds left.

Gray missed a last-second desperation shot from midcourt as time expired.

San Diego State standout Kawhi Leonard had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and James Rahon added 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

The Aztecs scored the first six points of the game and never trailed in the first half. San Diego State led 30-20 after Leonard’s basket with 6:19 left in the half.

Gonzaga trailed 42-37 at halftime and started the second half with a 7-0 run, taking its first lead of the night on Harris’ basket and free throw.
