Ashton Gibbs led four starters in double figures with 20 points, and No. 5 Pittsburgh rode big runs in the second half to overpower Robert Morris, 74-53, at the Petersen Events Center.
Brad Wanamaker added 17 points for the Panthers (6-0), who earned their 51st straight non-conference home win and improved to 29-0 against the Colonials.
Robert Morris (2-2) played without leading scorer Karon Abraham, who was suspended earlier Tuesday for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
The Panthers led throughout the first half, and by as many as 10 after Gary McGhee's two foul shots made it 33-23 with 1:28 to go. The Colonials chopped that deficit in half on a 3-pointer by Russell Johnson (team-high 15 points) and layup by Yann Charles as Pitt took a 33-28 edge into the break.
But the Panthers reclaimed command immediately, opening the second half on a 9-0 run and pulling away again after the Colonials closed the gap with a 14-2 spurt.
Despite taking the 2K Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic title in New York with victories over Maryland and Texas, Pitt was leapfrogged in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Ohio State jumped Kansas and Pitt to go 3-4-5.
