Jarrid Famous led the way with 15 points and Hugh Robertson added 12 as South Florida got the better of Auburn, 61-49, Wednesday.
Ron Anderson Jr. pulled down 12 rebounds and Toarlyn Fitzpatrick added nine boards for the Bulls, who dominated on the glass, 39-28.
South Florida (6-5) inched ahead in the first half, taking a 28-24 lead into the break. Robertson and Fitzpatrick combined for 10 points in the first five minutes of the second half as the lead stretched to 39-28. The Bulls were never seriously threatened the rest of the way.
The win snapped a two-game slide for the Bulls, who get James Madison at home on Saturday and play their last non-conference game at Cleveland State next week. Big East play opens up rough, as they travel to Seton Hall and No. 4 Connecticut before hosting No. 11 Villanova and No. 21 Louisville.
The Tigers (3-6) have dropped two in a row to Big East teams after losing to Rutgers over the weekend but will play their next six at home, including the SEC opener against Louisiana State on January 8.
