The second game of the Battle At Atlantis wasn’t much of a fight as Virginia Tech ran away with an 88-57 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday in the Bahamas.
Virginia Tech started the game with a 13-4 run and stretched the lead to 44-27 at halftime.
Dorenzo Hudson scored 17 points, and Malcolm Delaney added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists for Virginia Tech (6-4), which had five players score in double figures.
Mississippi State (7-3) was playing its first away game of the season, and was outmuscled by the Hokies. The Bulldogs were outrebounded 36-22, and committed 16 turnovers.
Renardo Sidney and Ravern Johnson scored 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who will look to rebound Wednesday as they continue their long road trip against Washington State in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.
