Darius Johnson-Odom and Jimmy Butler each scored 20 points as Marquette rolled past DePaul 94-64 in a Big East Conference game Tuesday night in Milwaukee.
Coming off a devastating 71-70 loss at No. 15 Louisville on Saturday, a game in which Marquette (13-6, 4-2 Big East) blew an 18-point lead in the last six minutes, the Golden Eagles started slow against DePaul (6-12, 0-6). They trailed 23-22 midway through the first half before putting together a 24-6 run to end the half while holding the Blue Demons scoreless for the final 4:32.
Marquette, which led 46-29 at halftime, finished off DePaul early in the second half with a 17-7 run and the Golden Eagles coasted the rest of the way.
Jae Crowder had a big game for Marquette, scoring 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. Dwight Buycks and Vander Blue were also in double digits with 12 points apiece for the Golden Eagles, who shot 51.5 percent from the field.
Freshman forward Cleveland Melvin paced four DePaul players in double figures with 20 points. The Blue Demons have now lost 19 straight games against Big East opponents dating to January 2010.
