Arkansas held Auburn without a basket for the first 12 minutes of the second half, ending a two-game losing streak with a 73-64 victory on Tuesday in Fayetteville, Ark.
Julysses Nobles and Rotnei Clarke each scored 16 points for the Razorbacks (13-6, 3-3 SEC), who opened the second half with a 21-1 run to take control.
Marshawn Powell scored the first five points of the half as Arkansas went on an 8-0 run. Auburn got a free throw from Earnest Ross with 14:48 left, making it 42-31. The Razorbacks then scored the next 13 points, six by Clarke. Marcus Britt’s 3-pointer with 9:10 left made it 55-31.
Auburn finally scored its first basket of the half on a jumper by Ross with 8:21 left. That sparked a 13-0 run, pulling the Tigers within 55-44 with 5:37 to go. Chris Denson’s layup with 54 seconds left cut the deficit to 70-64.
Powell finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Arkansas.
Ross scored 15 points to lead the Tigers (7-13, 0-6), who remain the only winless team in the SEC.
On Saturday, Arkansas travels to No. 22 Vanderbilt and Auburn visits South Carolina.
