Brad Tinsley converted a three-point play with six seconds remaining as No. 24 Vanderbilt escaped with an 81-77 win over Alabama on Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn.

With the Commodores (17-6, 5-4 SEC) down one in the final moments, Tinsley was fouled on a two-point jumper, a call that incensed the Crimson Tide bench. Tinsley hit the ensuing free throw for a two-point Vanderbilt advantage, and Alabama promptly turned the ball over.

John Jenkins followed with two free throws to ice the victory for Vanderbilt, which beat the Tide (15-8, 7-2) at home for the 11th straight time dating back to 1990.

Jenkins led the way with 20 points for the Commodores while Jeffery Taylor added 19 and Tinsley 15.

JaMychal Green scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half for Alabama, which ended up on the wrong end of several questionable calls in clutch time.

Riding a three-point lead at the half, the Commodores fended off Alabama until the 12-minute mark, when a Tony Mitchell dunk gave the Tide their first lead of the second half. It was short-lived, however, as Vanderbilt followed with an 8-1 run to jump back ahead by five.

The teams traded leads down the stretch until Festus Ezuli made a pair of free throws to put the Commodores ahead, then stuffed a Mitchell layup attempt to preserve the one-point edge.

Trevor Releford's layup with 27 seconds left gave Alabama the lead once more, which set the stage for Tinsley's heroics.
