Reggie Jackson went off for 31 points on 12-of-16 shooting and added eight rebounds as Boston College kept its slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a 76-72 victory over Maryland on Saturday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Corey Raji chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists off the bench for the Eagles (16-9, 6-5 ACC), who had lost four of their previous five to fall to the wrong side of the bubble.
Dino Gregory scored 15 and Pe’Shon Howard added 14 for the Terrapins (16-9, 5-5), who are clinging to their own tournament dreams at this point after falling into seventh place in the ACC.
Howard hit three 3-pointers in the final 4:55 of the first half as Maryland closed the period with a 16-8 burst to grab a 40-37 lead at the break. Jackson kept Boston College in it, scoring 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the first half.
It stayed tight in the second half until Jackson scored eight points during a 10-0 run that stretched a one-point lead to 63-52 with 7:05 left. Jackson started the run with a three-point play and capped it with a 3-pointer. The Terrapins would close to within 70-66 with under two minutes left, but Jackson knocked down a 3-pointer and Joe Trapani hit three free throws in the final 42 seconds to seal it for B.C.
