Chris Wright poured in a game-high 26 points as No. 9 Georgetown held on for a 61-55 victory over host South Florida on Saturday.
The Hoyas (21-6, 10-5 Big East) shot 51.2 percent from the floor, but couldn't shake the Bulls until a run of seven straight points stretched the lead to 49-38 with 6:44 remaining.
South Florida rallied late, but was unable to get any closer than four in the final minute.
Augustus Gilchrist scored 22 points for South Florida (8-20, 2-13), which was 1 for 12 from 3-point range, while Georgetown made 6 of 13.
The Hoyas survived despite an off night from top scorer Austin Freeman, who was 2 for 10 from the field and finished with four points, but had a team-best eight rebounds.
