Harrison Barnes scored a team-high 16 points and No. 19 North Carolina kept pace behind Duke in the ACC with a 75-63 victory over host North Carolina State on Wednesday.
Kendall Marshall scored 14 points and Dexter Strickland had 13 for the Tar Heels (21-6, 11-2 ACC), who have won four straight and remained one game behind the Blue Devils.
Tar Heels coach Roy Williams improved to 20-1 all-time against the Wolfpack dating back to his tenure at Kansas.
C.J. Leslie had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Wolfpack (14-13, 4-9), who have lost 10 straight to the Tar Heels.
North Carolina trailed for nearly the entire first half, but took the lead on a 3-pointer by Marshall with less than a minute to go before the break. The Tar Heels proceeded to make four straight shots to open the second half en route to a 40-33 lead.
Barnes scored nine points during a surge that helped Carolina pull away after North Carolina State had tied the game at 50.
Tyler Zeller added 11 points and nine rebounds for North Carolina.
