A 12-0 run in the second half allowed host Cincinnati to pull away for a 69-47 victory over No. 17 Georgetown Saturday afternoon in the final regular-season game for both clubs.
After Georgetown's Hollis Thompson hit a 3-pointer with 8:43 left to get the Hoyas within 43-39, the Bearcats (24-7, 11-7 Big East) used their decisive run over the next 2:38 to stretch the margin back to 16 points.Sean Kilpatrick drained two 3-pointers during the burst.
Dion Dixon led a balanced Cincinnati attack with 14 points, while Yancy Gates and Darnell Wilks added 13 apiece. The Bearcats enjoyed a 15-point edge at the foul line, making 24-of-30 attempts.
Austin Freeman scored a game-high 21 points in defeat for Georgetown (21-9, 10-8), which committed only seven turnovers but shot just 32 percent (17 of 53) from the floor. The Hoyas missed 14 of its 18 shots from 3-point range.
