Gonzaga stars Steven Gray and Elias Harris combined for 39 points as No. 22 Gonzaga jumped out to an early lead and withstood a late barrage from Jimmy Butler and Marquette for a 66-63 victory in the third-place game of CBE Classic in Kansas City on Tuesday.
Gray scored 20 points and knocked down five 3-pointers and Harris had 19 points and seven rebounds as the Bulldogs (3-2) took a 42-33 lead at the half and led between five and 11 points until the final six minutes when Butler went to work.
The junior forward made a free throw at 5:54 to cut the Warriors (4-2) deficit to 59-51, then scored 10 points, including a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to cut the deficit to 65-63. After Gray split two free throws, Butler's 35-footer at the buzzer hit off the backboard as the Bulldogs avoided their first three-game losing streak since Dec. 2008.
Butler finished with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting and added five rebounds. Darius Johnson-Odom scored 15 points for the Golden Eagles, who shot 38.9 percent.

40-24 margin, including a dominating 16-5 edge in offensive rebounds. Mangisto Arop, one of three Canadians on the Gonzaga roster, chipped in with 15 points for the Bulldogs. He scored 10 of those points in the second half, including a jumper that gave the Bulldogs a 59-48 lead with 7:07 remaining.
