Tristan Thompson had 14 points and 13 rebounds as Texas beat Texas A&M for the third time this season 70-58 on Friday in the Big 12 tournament semifinals at Kansas City, Mo.

The Longhorns will face No. 1 seed Kansas in Saturday's final. No team from Texas has won the Big 12 tournament title; the Longhorns are 0-5 all-time in the championship game.

Jordan Hamilton had 17 points and eight rebounds, and J'Covan Brown scored 15 off the bench for the Longhorns (27-6).

Thompson, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, neutralized the dominant post play that carried the Aggies in their quarterfinal win against Missouri a night earlier. The 6-foot-8 forward posted his fourth consecutive double-double — and ninth of the season — and had 10 offensive rebounds.

The Aggies (24-8) led by as many as seven in the first half, but leading scorer Khris Middleton didn't have enough help to keep it up. Middleton scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while the rest of the team was 10 for 34. David Loubeau scored 12 points, and B.J. Holmes added 11 for Texas A&M.

The first of Brown's three 3-pointers gave the Longhorns a 39-38 lead with 14:39 left, and they didn't trail again as a 14-3 run broke it open.
