Five Kentucky players scored in double figures Saturday as the No. 16-ranked Wildcats avenged a regular-season loss to Alabama and whipped the Crimson Tide 72-58 in the semifinal of the Southeastern Conference tournament in Atlanta.
Kentucky (24-8) got a strong inside game from Josh Harrellson, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. The senior had only three points against the Tide in the 68-66 regular-season loss. The Wildcats also got 15 points from Doron Lamb, 14 points and nine rebounds from DeAndre Liggins, 12 points and seven assists from Brandon Knight, and 10 points from Darius Miller.
Alabama’s SEC-best defense couldn’t slow the Wildcats, who shot 50 percent from the floor and made 9 of 20 from 3-point range. With their defense ineffective, the Tide (21-11) was no match on offense. Tony Mitchell led Alabama with 16 points, JaMychal Green had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Trevor Releford scored 10.
Kentucky will play the Florida in Sunday's final. The Wildcats are seeking their 27th SEC tournament championship.
