Damier Pitts scored 19 points, including three foul shots late in overtime, to lead unbeaten Marshall to a 73-69 victory over host Cincinnati on Friday.
The Thundering Herd (5-0) recorded their first victory over a BCS conference team in a true road game since a 69-66 win over Texas A&M on Dec. 7, 1989.
Sean Kilpatrick scored 19 for Cincinnati (3-2), which has lost two non-conference home games in six days. The Bearcats were stunned by Presbyterian on Saturday.
Marshall rallied from a 47-38 deficit midway through the second half to take a 61-56 lead with 2:05 remaining. The Bearcats scored five straight points and tied the game on Yancy Gates' layup with 1:13 to play.
DeAndre Kane's 3-pointer and Robert Goff's tip-in gave the Herd a five-point lead in overtime. Cincinnati cut the lead to two before Marshall took a 70-66 lead on Goff's jumper with 1:19 remaining.
Cincinnati scored the next three points, including two free throws by Cashmere Wright with 26.2 seconds left. Pitts split two foul shots with 23.2 seconds remaining to give the Herd a two-point lead.
Following a Cincinnati turnover, Pitts hit two more free throws with 8.4 seconds remaining.
Dennis Timmon added 14 points for Marshall, while Kane scored 13 and Goff had 11.
