Arkansas used a 20-0 first-half run Saturday to pull away from Grambling State in an 86-44 rout in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Razorbacks (4-1) held the Tigers (0-5) scoreless for a 6:02 span of the first half, turning a 7-5 advantage into a 27-5 lead. Freshman BJ Young scored eight points during the run, including two 3-pointers.
Grambling State’s Peter Roberson’s jumper with 8:28 left in the half ended the run. The Tigers, who started the day ranked last in the nation in scoring and field-goal percentage, committed 27 turnovers.
Roman Higgins led the Tigers with 16 points.
Arkansas played its second game since losing Marshawn Powell, its top returning scorer and rebounder, for the remainder of the season with a torn knee ligament. Young led four Arkansas scorers in double figures with 18 points.
The Razorbacks host Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday. Grambling State plays Wednesday at Washington State.
