Perry Jones III registered a career-high 27 points - 16 in the first half - in his season debut as No. 8 Baylor shook off an early nine-point deficit and cruised to a 90-54 victory over visiting Prairie View A&M on Tuesday.
Jones III, who served a six-game suspension which dated back to last season for receiving improper benefits, made 10-of-14 from the field and grabbed six rebounds.
Pierre Jackson contributed a career-high 17 points and eight assists, and Quincy Acy recorded his second straight double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Baylor (6-0).
Montreal Scott drained three 3-pointers early as Prairie View (2-6) built an 11-2 lead 4:10 into the game. But Baylor battled back and ran off 16 straight points in the middle of the first half for a 46-24 lead after 20 minutes.
Scott had a career-high 14 points - all in the first half, and Jules Montgomery added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Prairie View, which has lost six straight.
Baylor’s leading scorer Quincy Miller was held out of the game with a slight ankle injury.
The Bears improved to 42-0 all time against Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents and extended their streak of non-conference home wins to 24.
