Faisal Aden scored 12 points to lead three players in double figures as host Washington State defeated winless Grambling State 69-37 Wednesday night.
The Cougars (3-4) broke a three-game losing streak. All three defeats came in the 76 Classic last week.
Grambling (0-6) has lost its six games by an average of 35 points.
The Tigers' only lead came when Rondale Livas scored the first basket 24 seconds into the game. Aden's 3-pointer at the 18:46 mark put the Cougars ahead for good. Washington State took a 10-6 lead and ended the half on a 24-11 run.
The Cougars steadily built the lead in the second half. The margin reached 66-35 with just under four minutes remaining. Brock Motum recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. DeVonte Lacy added 10 points.
Peter Roberson, a 7-foot sophomore center, led Grambling with 12 points and eight rebounds. Xavier Rogers added 10 points.
