Chris Johnson scored 16 points as Dayton won for the fifth time in six games with a 62-50 home victory over Mississippi.
Ahead 28-23 at halftime, the Flyers (10-4) stretched their lead to 45-32 on Kevin Dillard’s jumper with 12:39 remaining. The Rebels (9-4) responded with eight unanswered points, drawing within 45-40 on Terrance Henry’s layup with 10:02 left.
But the Flyers stretched the lead from there. Dillard’s long 3-pointer from the top of the key gave the Flyers a 55-45 lead with 4:33 left, and Luke Fabrizius’3-pointer from the right wing on the next possession made it 58-45 with 3:41 to go.
Johnson finished with five 3-pointers, as Dayton shot 9-for-27 from beyond the arc. Paul Williams scored 12, and Dillard added nine points and seven assists.
Ole Miss shot just 1-for-10 from 3-point range and finished 11-for-21 from the free throw line. The Rebels have lost three in a row after a 9-1 start. Jarvis Summers led the Rebels with 14 points. Henry added 10.
The Rebels host SMU on Tuesday. Dayton opens Atlantic-10 Conference play at home Wednesday against Saint Louis.
