Visiting Alabama forced 22 turnovers and dominated the paint en route to a 73-48 win over Georgia Tech in the final non-conference game for both.
The Crimson Tide (11-3) led 40-22 at the half, getting 30 points in the paint.
Georgia Tech (7-7) lost its third straight and has committed 49 turnovers during the skid.
Trevor Releford scored 17 points, making all eight of his shots, and Tony Mitchell added 14 for the Tide, who welcomed back All-SEC forward JaMychal Green from a two-game absence. Green showed no ill effects from his shoulder injury, getting nine points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
Tech’s leading scorer, Glen Rice Jr., did not start as he languishes in coach Brian Gregory’s doghouse. After going scoreless in last week’s loss at Fordham, Rice contributed five points on 2-of-8 shooting.
Kammeon Holsey led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points.
Veteran Alabama shooting guard Andrew Steele, whose career appeared to be over due to concussion issues, made his season debut off the bench after being cleared by doctors. Steele has suffered three concussions while playing basketball, most recently in the 2011 SEC Tournament. He scored nine points, going 5-for-5 from the foul line.
