Faisal Aden scored 23 of his career-high 33 points in the second half as Washington State snapped its three-game losing streak with an 81-69 Pacific-12 win over visiting Stanford Thursday.
Playing its first home game since Dec. 18, Washington State (10-8, 2-4 Pac-12) held Stanford (15-4, 5-2 Pac-12) without a field goal for more than eight minutes midway through the second half.
While Stanford’s offense stalled, the Cougars went on a 12-3 run keyed by DaVonte Lacy and Reggie Moore’s back-to-back 3-pointers. Washington State outscored Stanford 54-40 in the second half.
Josh Owens had 19 points and seven rebounds for Stanford, which entered the game tied with California for first in the Pac-12. Chasson Randle added 15 points.
After being dominated on the boards against Washington last Sunday, the Cougars outrebounded the Cardinal 29-27. Stanford entered the game leading the Pac-12 in rebounding margin.
Stanford, which shot 40.7 percent from the field and 8-of-33 (24.2 percent) from beyond the arc, fell to 7-23 on the road in conference play since 2008-09.
