Argonauts 24, Lions 23: McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 260 yards and a touchdown as Toronto edged visiting BC to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Thompson was 18-of-29 while backup quarterback James Franklin rushed for a touchdown as the Argonauts (3-5) beat the Lions at home for the first time in five tries. James Wilder Jr. accumulated 140 yards from scrimmage while Anthony Coombs caught three passes for 56 yards and a TD after missing the first seven games with a shoulder injury.

Travis Lulay completed 21-of-34 passes for 285 yards and a touchdown for the Lions (3-5), who have dropped five consecutive road games. Bryan Burnham finished with four receptions for 91 yards and a TD while Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 60 yards and a score for BC, which outgained Toronto 405-357.

Zackary Medeiros kicked a pair of field goals (32 and 39 yards) to give Toronto a 6-3 lead after one quarter before Lulay aired out a 44-yard touchdown pass to Burnham to put BC in front 10-7. Johnson powered his way into the end zone from 2 yards out to extend the Lions' advantage before Medeiros connected on a 44-yard attempt with 1:07 left in the first half to pull the Argonauts within a touchdown.

Ty Long booted a 45-yard field goal to restore BC's 10-point cushion before Bethel-Thompson rolled to his left and fired a 20-yard scoring strike to Coombs to close the gap to three. Franklin snuck into the end zone from 1 yard out early in the fourth quarter to put the Argonauts ahead 24-20, but a 46-yarder by Long trimmed the deficit to one and BC had a chance to win it before Manny Arceneaux fumbled in Toronto territory in the final minute.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Lions have failed to score a first-quarter touchdown in six consecutive games. … Toronto WR Mario Alford, who played for four teams in the NFL from 2015-17, had four receptions for 47 yards in his CFL debut. … Franklin has recorded four rushing touchdowns in his last three games. … Arceneaux made five catches for 90 yards.
