Tiger-Cats 21, Redblacks 7: Dane Evans threw for 299 yards and a touchdown as East Division-leading Hamilton handed host Ottawa its sixth loss in seven games.
Short-yardage quarterback David Watford rushed for a score and Evans threw a pair of interceptions but completed 24-of-39 passes as the Tiger-Cats improved to 7-2 for the first time since 1998. Bralon Addison hauled in eight passes for 100 yards, Cam Marshall gained 92 yards on the ground and Jaelon Acklin caught a touchdown pass for Hamilton, which ended a four-game losing streak against its division rival.
Dominique Davis was 20-for-40 for 238 yards and Caleb Holley gained 83 of those yards on five receptions to lead the Redblacks (3-6), who managed two field goals by Lewis Ward and a rouge. Mossis Madu Jr. rushed nine times for 55 yards while subbing for injured starter John Crockett and caught a pair of passes as Ottawa lost its fourth straight at home for the first time since 2014.
Ward saw his CFL-record streak of 69 straight made field goals come to an end, but his 31-yard miss with less than six minutes remaining in the first quarter turned into a rouge that tied the game at 1-1. Antoine Pruneau picked off Evans deep in Ottawa territory to eliminate one scoring opportunity late in the opening period, but Lirim Hajrullahu booted a 12-yard field goal early in the second to give the Tiger-Cats a 4-1 lead at intermission.
Watford scooted into the end zone for a 1-yard TD early in the third quarter to give Hamilton a 10-point lead before Ward converted from 26 and 40 yards to pull Ottawa within 11-7 early in the final period. But Evans threw an 11-yard scoring strike to Acklin with just over nine minutes left, Hajrullahu added a 21-yard kick and the Tiger-Cats stopped the Redblacks twice on downs inside the Hamilton 10 over the final five minutes.
