Cam Ward made 37 saves for his second shutout of the season and Zach Boychuk scored his first two goals of the campaign to lead the visiting Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.

Erik Cole and Patrick Dwyer also scored for Carolina, which has won two straight after dropping three in a row. Ward made 18 saves in the third period as the Senators came on strong and now has 14 career shutouts.

Boychuk opened the scoring on a wraparound at 9:24 of the first period and added his second less than four minutes later on the power play with a quick shot that beat Brian Elliott high to the glove side.

Cole extended the lead with his eighth of the season in the second period before Dwyer rounded out the scoring with a goal 4:32 into the third.

Elliott made 25 saves for the Senators, who were blanked for the fifth time this season.
