Kyle Clifford recorded a goal and an assist while Trevor Lewis converted a controversial penalty shot as the Los Angeles Kings halted a three-game home losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

Defensemen Willie Mitchell and Jack Johnson also scored, Colin Fraser and blueliner Drew Doughty each had two assists and Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for Los Angeles, which improved to 9-2-6 under coach Darryl Sutter.

Clifford helped the Kings grab a 1-0 lead by setting up Mitchell for a shot from the left point that beat a screened Craig Anderson late in the first period. The left wing, who also participated in a fight, completed his Gordie Howe hat trick by burying a loose puck on the doorstep midway through the second.

Johnson scored his eighth goal of the season during a 5-on-3 power play with 2:06 remaining in the period, matching his career high set in 2009-10. Justin Williams recorded an assist on the play to extend his points streak to eight contests.

Los Angeles was awarded a penalty shot with 32.9 seconds to play after Ottawa defenseman Chris Phillips was called for covering the puck in the crease. Despite replays showing Phillips did not commit the infraction, Lewis slid the puck around Anderson's outstretched glove for a 4-0 advantage.

Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored a power-play goal in the third for the Senators, who fell to 1-11-1 all-time in Los Angeles. Ottawa, which dropped to 2-2-0 on its six-game road trip, lost in regulation for only the third time in 14 overall contests (10-3-1).
