Red Wings 2, Oilers 1:
Defenseman Niklas Kronwall scored the go-ahead goal on a power play in the third period and Pavel Datsyuk snapped a three-game scoreless streak with a goal and an assist as Detroit edged visiting Edmonton.

Jimmy Howard made 23 saves and captain Henrik Zetterberg collected a pair of assists for the Red Wings, who earned their second straight win.

Defenseman Justin Schultz scored his fourth goal and Nikolai Khabibulin made 28 saves in his first game of the season as the Oilers' winless streak extended to five games.

Detroit entered the contest ranked among the bottom teams in the NHL in both the power play and the penalty kill but scored each of its goals with the man advantage against Edmonton. After killing off a 5-on-3 chance for the Oilers, the Red Wings got their own power play in the third period and Datsyuk flipped a backhand pass to the point, where Kronwall was waiting to slap it past Khabibulin.

The teams traded power-play goals in the first period, with Datsyuk giving Detroit an early lead before Schultz beat Howard with 2:05 left in the period.
