Flyers 4, Flames 1: Brayden Schenn scored a goal and set up two others as visiting Philadelphia extended its winning streak to four games.
Scott Hartnell and defensemen Mark Streit and Braydon Coburn also tallied for the Flyers, who improved to 3-0-0 on their six-game road trip. Wayne Simmonds notched a pair of assists and Ray Emery turned aside 23 shots to improve to 7-2-1 lifetime against the Flames.
Sean Monahan scored the lone goal for Calgary, which fell to 1-3-0 on its five-game homestand. Reto Berra finished with 17 saves for the Flames, who have scored once over their last three contests.
Streit gave Philadelphia an early lead when he faked a slap shot at the right point and moved to just above the top of the slot before wristing the puck past Berra 3:15 into the contest. The advantage lasted until Monahan jumped off the bench on a line change and beat Emery from the left faceoff circle on a partial breakaway with 5 1/2 minutes left in the second period.
Schenn put the Flyers ahead for good with 1:29 remaining in the session, ripping a turnaround shot from the slot past Berra. Hartnell created breathing room midway through the third, when he deflected defenseman Luke Schenn's shot from the right point by the netminder for his eighth goal, and Coburn sealed the win with a short-handed empty-netter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Simmonds' two assists gave him 200 points for his career. ... RW Kevin Westgarth made his debut with the Flames after being acquired from Carolina on Monday and saw 10:42 of ice time. ... Monahan's goal ended Calgary's drought at 159 minutes, 35 seconds. ... Flyers captain Claude Giroux was kept off the scoresheet, ending his career-best point streak at nine games.
