Bruins 2, Jets 1 (OT): Defenseman Dougie Hamilton scored 3:39 into overtime as Boston salvaged the finale of its three-game homestand.
After killing off Brad Marchand's high-sticking double-minor that spanned into overtime, the Bruins regrouped before Hamilton's heroics ended the contest. Carl Soderberg collected his second assist when his diagonal pass from along the left-wing boards found Hamilton, who skated in and wired a high shot from the edge of the right faceoff circle past Michael Hutchinson.
Milan Lucic scored for the second straight contest and Tuukka Rask finished with 35 saves for the Bruins, who have defeated the Winnipeg/Atlanta franchise on 13 consecutive occasions. Hamilton and Loui Eriksson each recorded an assist in the win.
Dustin Byfuglien scored a power-play goal late in the first period for the Jets, who finished 2-0-1 on their three-game road trip. Hutchinson turned aside 36 shots against the team that selected him in the third round of the 2008 draft
With Eriksson serving a tripping penalty, Winnipeg drew first blood at 16:24 of the first period as Byfuglien's sharp wrist shot sailed between the legs of teammate Michael Frolik and past Rask. The slim advantage held up until 3:05 of the third, as Lucic and Soderberg executed a give-and-go before the former redirected the return pass past Hutchinson.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jets C Bryan Little exited the contest early in the third period after taking a slap shot from Soderberg off his right knee and did not return. ... Boston C Chris Kelly registered three hits in his return from a two-game absence due to an upper-body injury. ... Winnipeg has converted on the power play in three consecutive contests after entering the trek having failed on its previous 23 opportunities. ... Jets LW Adam Lowry served his one-game suspension following his boarding penalty on Buffalo's Patrick Kaleta on Wednesday.
