Preview Roundups
March 03, 2019
Washington at NY Rangers 12:30 PM ET
Captain Alex Ovechkin hopes to continue another scoring surge and give his Washington Capitals a chance to move into first place in the Metropolitan Division Sunday afternoon when they visit the rival New York Rangers. Ovechkin enjoys a comfortable lead in the league with 45 goals after scoring seven times in his last eight games and posting at least a point in every contest - 11 total - during the same span.
Philadelphia at NY Islanders 3:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers continue to keep themselves in striking distance of an Eastern Conference wild-card spot and look to complete a three-game road trip on a high note Sunday when they take on the Metropolitan Division-leading New York Islanders. The Flyers are seven points out of the second wild card after a 3-0-1 stretch, capped by Friday’s uneven 6-3 victory at New Jersey.
Vancouver at Vegas 4:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights are firmly in playoff position and they have Marc-Andre Fleury mostly to thank as they host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. The veteran goaltender recorded his league-leading seventh shutout and 31st victory of the season in Friday's 3-0 win at Anaheim that gave Vegas three straight triumphs and a comfortable third-place spot in the Pacific Division.
Colorado at Anaheim 4:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche are among a group of teams in a tight race for the two Western Conference wild-card spots as they visit the struggling Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Colorado had its six-game point streak snapped (5-0-1) with a 4-3 loss at San Jose on Friday and hopes to start faster against Anaheim, which plummeted out of playoff contention by going 5-21-4 in its last 30 games.
Ottawa at Florida 5:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers extended their point streak to five games (2-0-3) last time out, but they didn't get the result they needed in order to improve their chances for a postseason berth. Florida hopes for a better outcome when it plays at home for the 14th time in 18 games Sunday against the Ottawa Senators.
Winnipeg at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
Having averted a third three-game losing streak within the last month, the Winnipeg Jets will be hard-pressed to maintain their slim advantage atop the Central Division. After facing five consecutive opponents who are fighting for a postseason berth, the Jets will open a rugged four-game road trip against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.
Nashville at Minnesota 7:30 PM ET
The Nashville Predators are in the midst of a funk as they've lost three of their last four games, with the lone victory coming in a shootout. Nashville attempts to right the ship and salvage the finale of its three-game road trip when it visits the Minnesota Wild on Sunday for the opener of their home-and-home set.
Chicago at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The schedule is setting up nicely over the final five weeks of the season for the San Jose Sharks, who will play 11 of their final 17 regular-season games at SAP Center. However, the short-term health of the team could be an issue when the Sharks continue their four-game homestand against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
