Preview Roundups
March 05, 2019
Carolina at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins have not lost in regulation since prior to the All-Star break but still can't shake Toronto in the battle for second place in the Atlantic Division. The Carolina Hurricanes are nearly as hot and locked in a tight duel for a playoff spot as they seek their sixth consecutive win when they visit the Bruins on Tuesday night.
Columbus at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been wildly successful on the road this season (19-10-1), and coach John Tortorella and company hope that track record continues on Tuesday when they open a two-game trek against the New Jersey Devils. The Blue Jackets, who have lost three of their last four overall, are set to embark on a stretch of playing 11 of their last 17 contests away from home.
Ottawa at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders have fallen out of first place in the Metropolitan Division with five losses in the last seven games and look to start steering their ship in the right direction when the NHL-worst Ottawa Senators visit the Nassau Coliseum on Tuesday. The Islanders are 2-4-1 during their slide after losing consecutive contests to first-place Washington and red-hot Philadelphia at home while managing a combined two goals.
Florida at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Superstar captain Sidney Crosby is doing all he can to send the Pittsburgh Penguins to the postseason for the 13th consecutive year. Named the NHL's Third Star of the Week for the second time in 15 days, Crosby aims to continue his torrid stretch on Tuesday when the Penguins open a two-game homestand against the Florida Panthers.
Winnipeg at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler and the Lightning defense corps look to follow up memorable performances when the Jets visit NHL-best Tampa Bay for a showdown of two of the league’s top teams Tuesday night. Wheeler scored a career-high four goals in Sunday’s 5-2 victory at Columbus to open a four-game trip while the Lightning received four tallies and nine points from their blueline for an 11th win in the last 12 contests Saturday against Ottawa.
Minnesota at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
After salvaging the finale of a three-game road trip, the Nashville Predators will look to complete a sweep of a home-and-home when they host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. The Predators halted a two-game slide with a 3-2 shootout win at Minnesota on Sunday for their third consecutive victory against their division rivals.
NY Rangers at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
Despite struggling to find consistency for much of the season, the Dallas Stars are holding down the top wild card in the Western Conference as they enter a favorable portion of the schedule. The Stars will play eight of the next 10 at American Airlines Center, starting with Tuesday night's matchup versus the visiting New York Rangers.
Detroit at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche cannot afford to let more opportunities slip away in their pursuit to participate in the postseason as they host the struggling Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Colorado sits three points behind Dallas and Minnesota, who own the two wild-card spots in the Western Conference, after a 2-1 loss Sunday at Anaheim - their third in four games (1-2-1) - and plays another team that is already looking ahead to 2019-20.
Anaheim at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The red-hot Arizona Coyotes continue their improbable surge toward a Western Conference playoff berth when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. Arizona has won six straight games - its longest winning streak since a similar run in February 2012 - after Saturday's 3-1 victory over Detroit, and is two points out of a playoff spot with Dallas and Minnesota tied for the wild-card positions.
Montreal at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
Carey Price can scribble his name alongside Hall of Famer Jacques Plante as the all-time winningest goaltender in Montreal Canadiens' history on Tuesday, provided he emerge victorious in two battles. Price will need to overcome flu-like symptoms in order to vie for his 314th career win, which he hopes to secure as the Canadiens open a three-game trek against the Los Angeles Kings.
